Senior Ecologist – East Anglia

We are seeking an ecologist at Senior grade to join our growing CIEEM Registered Practice. Individuals will have experience across a variety of areas, including protected species surveying (in particular bats and amphibians), licensing and mitigation, Preliminary Ecological Appraisal and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessment. Experience or an interest in habitat creation and restoration would be a bonus.

The role will be based from our dog-friendly Norwich office, with support for flexible working arrangements. We offer a supportive environment, with clear career progression, diversity in challenges and technical development, and mentorship in commercial and project management aspects of the business. The candidate will also benefit from and contribute to a variety of team gatherings and training events

  • Salary – £33 to £40K p/a (depending on experience).

Seasonal Ecologists – Positions now filled for 2025

We’re on the lookout for motivated and enthusiastic individuals, committed to a career in ecology and biodiversity enhancement and who relish a challenge! As part of our friendly team, you’ll engage in protected species surveys (such as bats, badgers and great crested newts) and contribute to project planning, coordination and reporting. You will be based at our office in Henley-in-Arden.

What we want:

  • Previous experience with wildlife surveying e.g., bat emergence surveys, great crested newt surveys and / or work with local wildlife / conservation organisations;
  • Some knowledge of protected species legislation and / or biodiversity net gain requirements;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and experience with GIS;
  • You will need access to a car and a full UK driving licence.

  • Starting salary of £26k (pro rata);
  • 30 days annual leave (pro rata);
  • Training opportunities and mentoring within our close-knit team;
  • 6-month contract in the first instance (with potential to become a permanent member of our team at the end of the survey season).
